Atlas for Congress

Because all of our leaders should be able to
answer the question: Who is John Galt?

Send a copy of “Atlas Shrugged” to your member of Congress

In this era of stimulus packages, bailouts and government takeovers of private enterprise, Ayn Rand’s classic novel about life under the yoke of an overbearing government rings eerily more true than it did when it first hit bookshelves in 1957.

As Stephen Moore wrote in January in the Wall Street Journal: “If only ‘Atlas’ were required reading for every member of Congress and political appointee in the Obama administration. I’m confident that we’d get out of the current financial mess a lot faster.”

The goal of this site is do just that: Get a copy of “Atlas Shrugged” in the hands of our leaders, beginning with the United States Congress.

We’ve set up an Amazon wishlist containing “Atlas Shrugged” for each member of Congress, every state governor and select members of the Obama administration with their mailing addresses included. This way it’s easy to send them a copy of the book, and we can track which members have received it.

Use the map below to find your members, or search by state, name or ZIP code.

How it works

Find your lawmakers using the map or search options above.

On the lawmaker’s page, click the link to send them a copy of “Atlas Shrugged,” which will take you to the corresponding Amazon wishlist.

Everything is handled by Amazon’s secure check-out. Amazon will send you order confirmation and tracking information.

Once we confirm a book has been purchased from the lawmakers’ wishlist, we will update their status here so we can keep track of which lawmakers have been sent a copy of “Atlas Shrugged.”

Wishlist options

Each wishlist contains four editions of “Atlas Shrugged” varying in price from $8.99 to $25.17. That way there’s always a copy in stock and you can tailor your gift to the lawmaker. (For instance, sending the small-print, paperback to older lawmakers with poor eyesight might not be a good idea).

The wishlist contains the mailing address of each lawmaker, so you don’t have to worry about that information.

Include a note

As you check out of your Amazon shopping cart, you have the option to include a personalized note to be shipped with the book. One the check-out options page, click the “CHANGE” button next to “Gift options.”

On the next page, fill out the note form. You might want to encourage them to read the book, explain one of its ideas or tell them you ordered it through Atlasforcongress.com.

Want to send a copy to more than one lawmaker?

No problem. The link to Amazon will open in a new window. Before you sign out of Amazon, come back here and find additional lawmakers to send a copy of “Atlas Shrugged” to. Follow their links back to Amazon and add their books to your shopping cart.

While you’re there, go ahead and order a copy for yourself and your friends.
